The Honorable Jane Castor, Mayor of Tampa designates Tuesday, October 4, 2022, The Franciscan Center Day.  A Proclamation issued by Mayor Castor cites a 50 + year history of service and provision of Peaceful surroundings so that all who visit the Center may “Find their Center.”  We celebrate our Patron, St. Francis of Assisi whose Feast Day is universally celebrated on October 4, 2022, in commemoration of his death and entry into eternal life on October 4, 1226. The Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, NY founded the Franciscan Center on land donated by Mr. Joseph Miyares.  The Center opened in 1970 and in the Charism of St. Francis and the vision and mission focus of the Franciscan Sisters, the Center has already given the Tampa Bay Community a center of peace, prayer and spiritual centering.  May God, through the intercession of St. Francis bless the work of the Center and all who seek it as a sacred space for contemplation and rest.
